Why the economics are unbeatable
Every other channel charges you to reach an audience someone else owns. Email charges effectively nothing to reach an audience that already paid you money.
That is why return figures for email look absurd next to paid media. The comparison is slightly unfair — email cannot acquire new customers at scale — but for repeat business and reactivation nothing else is close.
The four emails that do the work
The service reminder: it has been a year since your last visit. This one email, sent consistently, out-earns most local businesses’ entire marketing program.
The seasonal offer: two or three a year, tied to something real.
The reactivation: to customers who have not returned in eighteen months, with a reason to come back.
The post-job follow-up: thanks, plus the review request. This is where your reviews actually come from.
What to skip
Newsletters nobody asked for. Company news. Anything sent because a calendar said to send something.
Frequency is not the lever for local business email. Relevance and timing are. Four well-timed emails a year beat monthly filler.
The unglamorous prerequisite
You need the addresses. Collect an email at every job, every appointment, every sale — in the invoicing flow, not as a separate task somebody remembers.
A business that adds this to its intake process today has a genuine asset within a year and almost no cost.
