Where the feeling comes from
You see a competitor posting daily with slick video and a growing follower count, and it looks like they are winning something. The anxiety is real and the comparison is almost always uninformative, because you cannot see whether any of it produces revenue.
A great deal of local business social media is activity performed for other business owners.
The question that resets it
How many customers did social bring us last month, and what did each one cost?
If you cannot answer, the problem is not that you post too little. It is that nothing about the current effort is set up to produce or measure a customer. More posting will not change that.
What "caught up" actually looks like
A complete, current profile with real photos and correct hours. A handful of recent posts so you look active. Paid campaigns targeted to your service area with one clear offer. Reviews visible and recent. Creative refreshed monthly.
That is the whole list. Nothing about frequency, trends, or dancing.
What to stop feeling guilty about
Not posting daily. Not being on every platform — one done properly beats four neglected. Not responding to trends. Not having a content calendar that covers a quarter.
None of those correlate with revenue for a local service business, and the guilt they generate pulls attention away from the things that do.
